We have a short week this week as we are have a day off on Friday. Next week, we will be testing using the Smarter Balance test. One format of the test is that I teach a lesson that one day, and then the following day, the students will take a test. It is an online test.
We have finished the NWEA MAP spring tests with the exception of a few make-up tests. I am thrilled with each kiddos growth, and I am very proud of how hard they have worked this year to learn. I will share the results from these tests as soon as I have them. Please keep in mind that the scores are but a small snapshot of who your kiddo is as a learner. I have stressed with them that it is ONE way to assess what they know, but not the only way.
Many of the things that we are learning this week are a carryover from last week:
Reading: Continue to compare and contrast various extreme environments, make inferences based on reading
Vocabulary: habitat, adaptation, and migrate
Spelling: Words ending in "er" and "le"
Writing: Develop the story line of our fiction chapter books by brainstorming various ways for the main character to solve the problem
Math: Draw irregular quadrilaterals, continue with traits of polygons by introducing games, continue multiplication and division math facts
Art: Finish the "Longest Line and Monochromatic Polygons" project
Have a great week,
Miss Kimpton
